Shifts

We generally work 12-hour shifts.  Our shifts are 6A - 6P, 8A - 8P, or if you prefer PM shifts 6P - 6A or 8P - 8A.   Our busiest station is in Butler City and is where we like to have our students attend.  We can accommodate most needs with shift hours if we have available staffing.  Example:  If you can only complete 4P - 10P due to school, we can usually make that happen.

Call Volume & what to expect

Generally, most trainees get close to 5 patient contacts in a 12-hour shift.  Some days are really busy and we have had students get 10 of their patient contacts in one day.  We will have you go from truck to truck to get you as many contacts as possible.  If you are an ALS trainee, you may have to be in one unit for the day due to preceptor availability.  BLS providers can go with any of our staff.  You will be permitted to perform any skills in your scope of practice that you have been trained to do or are permitted.  ALS providers must have a signed skill sheet showing what they are allowed to do.

Our Facility

When arriving at our Base 1 station, you can park in the parking lot behind the Honey Bear Gas Station.   To enter the building, please enter from the street side.  Go up the cement stairs and enter the glass doors.  Someone will greet you and give you directions as to where to go.  The office is open Monday - Friday, 0800 - 1700.   Special instructions will be given to you in the event you are scheduled for an evening or weekend shift.
